We offer several types of assessments including the following:

Speech Sound Assessments

Speech sound assessments aim to determine which sounds you or your child has difficulty pronouncing and whether these difficulties are developmentally appropriate. Speech sound assessments also allow the Speech-Language Pathologist to determine which sounds would be most efficient to work on and develop a therapy plan, if appropriate.

Speech sound assessments are typically completed within one appointment and can use formal, standardized testing and/or can be completed informally through play- and conversation-based measures. If you are seeking documentation, an assessment report can be provided, but is not necessary to move forward with developing a therapy plan.

Language Assessments

If you are looking for speech and language therapy, language can be assessed through informal, dynamic assessment over the course of our therapy appointments.

We also offer formal, standardized language assessments. A formal language assessment is typically completed over the course of 2-4 appointments, depending on a variety of factors which we can discuss ahead of time. An in-depth report will be provided to you following completion of a formal language assessment, and can be shared with you as well as other professionals, with your consent.

Communication Assessments

Communication assessments aim to gain an understanding of how a child communicates in a variety of settings. These may include observations in more than one setting, generally including a setting where other children are present such as at school, daycare, or preschool, as well as a setting where there are fewer other children present, such as at our clinic or at the child’s home.

Communication assessments may be particularly helpful for children who are pursuing autism assessments or children with selective/situational mutism, or those who communicate quite differently in different settings.

If you are seeking documentation, an assessment report can be provided, but is not necessary to move forward with developing a therapy plan.
